An Evening of Sonic Delights

  • Headstone 28 Hurley Ave Kingston, NY, 12401 United States (map)

Looking Heaven in the Eye is the second ambient collaboration between multi-instrumentalists Max Liebman and Mike Moschetto rooted in meditative drones and neo-noir atmospherics. Recorded on a cold February weekend in Kingston, NY, the EP's two compositions call to mind titans of minimalism like Brian Eno, Harold Budd, and Oren Ambarchi. The record, which will be released on November 15th, is the followup to the duo's 2023 EP I came like Water, and like Wind I go, both of which are on Anthrophonic Records.

Max Liebman is a musician, engineer, producer, and educator living in Kingston, NY. He has spent the last twenty years gigging around the country in bands of various genres, making records in the studio, and teaching music privately and at Ramapo College of New Jersey. His most recent projects include playing bass in Sparrow Lore, a jazz-adjacent trio with Jef Brown and Aidan Samp, and several ambient collaborations, including this one with Mike Moschetto.

Mike Moschetto is a producer, engineer & musician from Massachusetts. In a past life, he'd routinely jump into a van and do laps around North America & Europe with ear-splitting punk bands. But his more recent musical output has veered sharply toward the contemplative, using an array of electronics to explode the sonic palette of his guitar out in every direction and plumb the depths of the inner self, evoking not only other instruments but also a sense of place and even memory.
